In my opinion there has never been a better time to start an accountancy practice than right now. It’s often said that the sector is being disrupted, it really is. Technology means that work can be completed quicker and easier and from anywhere with an internet connection. The traditional 9-5 working day… is a thing of the past Cloud technology means a higher level of services with more client contact is possible. The traditional 9-5 working day spent in an office is a thing of the past. Work can be completed how and when you want (provided the deadlines are met). Work can be scheduled to fit around your life, rather than being the other way around. Big established firms will struggle Making Tax Digital has already seen the start of huge opportunities. Businesses forced onto cloud platforms by accountants who haven’t planned adequately or provided the necessary training for a smooth transition, will look to the market to find a better level of support from tech savvy, client focused accountants. Big established firms will struggle to change and make the transition to providing services at a 21st century digital level. You could have the business you want and run it the way you want If you can embrace this change, you could have the business you want and run it the way you want. Now let’s be clear there will be months, even years of really hard work. If you want to make big gains and quickly, you need to be prepared to work really hard and I mean 60+ hours on a regular basis at the start. Put the hard work in early and you will reap the benefits Over this series of 10 blogs I’ll focus on the changes I made in my practice which enabled me to get where I am today.
